One good memory of the draft before the merger of rosters was the great brand crossover matches that took place. We had Benoit vs HHH, Brock vs Goldberg, which technically was a great match on paper but tanked miserably, HBK vs Kurt Angle, Kane vs Undertaker to talk about the matches from the Ruthless Aggression Era.
With the most recent match between Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar, it is being said that WWE plans to have more such matches in future. After the draft, it is worth mentioning that WWE is planning to divide its pay per view events for 8 months of a year, the remaining 4 months would be a combined roster. These would be events like Summerslam, WrestleMania, the Royal Rumble and Survivor Series.
This would help us have matches that we as fans have been longing for. Imagine having a match between Finn Balor and AJ Styles. Or Bray Wyatt and Brawn Strowman.
Regarding the current situation involving Lesnar and Orton, it was expected that there would be no physical altercation before Summerslam. But Orton surprised Lesnar and all of us by RKO’ing him in the middle of the ring. Lesnar returned the favor by F5-ing him on SmackDown the next night. We knew that the feud would become more and more interesting with both of them on different shows.

WWE currently wants to have both the brands as separate as they can, but also seem to like the idea of crossover. According to Daily Wrestling News, Randy Orton vs Brock Lesnar will not be the last time that WWE goes with a crossover match. There can be another interesting situation with Survivor series, where they bring back the classic Team SmackDown vs Team Raw elimination match.
The last time we saw a great Survivor series elimination match with a great build up was between Team SmackDown lead by Batista and Team Raw lead by Shawn Michaels. WWE has the right resources now to build up for a great match with around three four months left for Survivor Series after Summerslam.
