Chris Jericho has been with WWE for more than 15 years. He is a famous celebrity figure and a WWE legend who has won multiple championships. Recently, Jericho announced his signing with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The news was also announced in an hour-long event called Double Or Nothing Rally in Jacksonville.
The newly formed wrestling promotion is founded by former WWE star Cody Rhodes and Young Bucks. It is funded by Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham owner Shahid Khan. AEW also announced an agreement with China’s Oriental Wrestling Entertainment.
Chris has been with World Wrestling Entertainment since 1999. Jericho has been a part of the WWE Smackdown and WWE Raw for major time. He has won Intercontinental Championship nine times and has six distinguished championships to his name. However, Jericho has not been regular in his appearances recently.
His last performance being at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia, where the famous wrestler was defeated by Braun Strowman. Jericho has mainly been busy with his metal band Frozzy and has been in and out of the wrestling scene. He has been involved with multiple television drama series and movies also.
The signing of Chris is a huge thing for All Elite Wrestling, it is one of the most major signings in the history of the wrestling promotion. A famous personality like Jericho will increase the ticket sales and money flow in the business drastically. Last year, Jericho fought a match against Kenny Omega at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom PPV which became one of the highest profiting events in its history.
WrestleMania 33 was one of the last major events in which Jericho participated. World Wrestling Entertainment will surely feel the absence of their star man and the fan base he bought with him. However, it wasn’t a total surprise for the former boss of WWE, Vince McMahon. Reportedly Vince had a talk with Jericho before his joining. AEW has a lot of money and capital, Y2J being a part of the family concretes the fact that Cody is in for real business in the wrestling industry.
