Antonie Griezmann has been named as the Player of the tournament of the UEFA EURO 2016. This 25-year-old player of France has been given this player of the tournament award after being observed keenly by the technical observers of UEFA. Antonie Griezmann has been declared as the player of this tournament as he scored six goals and two assists in this one month long EURO Cup.
Although Antonie didn’t click in the final of this cup and ended up by being on the losing team but still he won the hearts of the people as it was because of Antonie that France could make it to the final of this EURO Cup as Antonie scored both the goals in France’s semifinal win over Germany where France won the match by 2 -0. Because of his extra ordinary efforts, Antonie Griezmann collected the Adidas Golden Boot Award.
Official UEFA EURO 2016 Team of the tournament has also been revealed now. In this team of 11 players, there are 4 players from Portugal, three players from Germany and there are 2 players each of France and Wales. The name of the players who made into this list of the team of the tournament by their excellent performance during this whole tournament are : Christiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Jerome Boateng (Germany), Raphael Guerreiro (Portugal), Pepe (Portugal), Toni Kroos (Germany), Joe Allen (Wales), Joshua Kimmich (Germany), Antonie Griezzman (France), Aaron Ramsey (Wales), Dimitri Payet (France) and Rui Patrico (Portugal).
This team of the tournament has been selected by UEFA’s panel of 13 strong observers which was led by UEFA Chief technical officer Ioan Lupescu. These choices of the players have been made by these officials by following the particular criteria which were outlined before the tournament.
On the selection of the team of these 11 players, the UEFA Coaching Ambassador Sir Alex Ferguson stated that –
“After quite a bit of deliberation, the observers chose a team that features the best performing players from the best performing teams at UEFA EURO 2016. We have chosen dominant central defenders; full-backs who can defend and attack; deep-lying midfielders who can control the game and dynamic, flexible and creative attackers, all of whom have the ability to create and score goals. We believe that the selected XI represents the best of the competition.”
