Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) announced in its press conference that the Indian team will play a two match T20 series against the T20 World champions West Indies. The two matches will be played in Florida after both BCCI and WICB agreed on the terms to take T20 cricket to the land of America.
The series will kick start after the ongoing Test series is finished and is seen as step for the development of cricket in the USA and to explore new markets to make the game even more popular. It will be an opportunity for cricket followers in the USA to witness encounters between two strong T20 sides.
MS Dhoni to join the dominant Indian team after Test Series
The Indian team has been utterly dominant in the ongoing test series and will be joined by their T20 captain MS Dhoni alongside some established players of the T20 team for the series. Though the team is yet to be decided but inclusion of Jasprit Bumrah looks certain. Several players in the test team like Cheteshwar Pujara, Murli Vijay, Wriddhiman Saha and Shardul Thakur will fly back to India as they are not T20 players and likes of Manish Pandey, Harnik Pandya will join the team in USA.
Indian Squad T20 – MS Dhoni (Captain and wicket keeper), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Amit Mishra and Stuart Binny.
The Calypso kings will be back with their full strength
Though India right now is dominating the proceedings in the test series, but the same will not happen in the T20 series as the West Indies team is fully loaded with specialist T20 players and are the World champions of T20 right now. The T20 series will mark the comeback of several senior players like Darren Sammy, Chris Gayle and Lendl Simmons. These returning players will make sure that the West Indies team doesn’t bow down against the men in blue.
Indian hopes for the revenge
The Indian cricket team will be looking to take revenge from the West Indies side that cost them the final berth in World Cup T20 this year. It was the West Indies team that defeated the Indian team in the World T20 semi finals.
