KL Rahul shines as Team India is set to give another shock to West Indies

After a successful beginning of the 2nd Test on Day 1, Team India, once again, finished the day on a high note. KL Rahul’s flawless century and Rahane’s dependable innings put the team in the driver’s seat. Rahul resumed his innings from 75* and went on to score comfortable 158 with 15 fours and 3 sixes.

This was KL Rahul’s third century in test cricket. He had a big partnership of 121 runs for the second wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara who scored 46 of 159 balls.

Pujara unluckily got run out with a direct throw to stumps by Roston Chase. He was in a hurry of quick single but remained short at the bowler’s end. After the successful partnership between them, Virat Kohli came as another big man for the opposition. But, maybe it was not his day as the Indian skipper only managed to score 44 in 90 deliveries with the help of 4 fours and 1 six.

Rahul’s best test knock ended with a bad delivery by Shannon Gabriel. The opener tried to glance it towards the leg but it went to the keeper, which resulted in his wicket after a tremendous 158.

West Indies, on the other hand, was puzzled in almost every situation. They did not take the new ball when it was available and instead fed a new batsman with spin. Things changed after tea. West Indies got Kohli and R Ashwin in the final hour of play but Ajinkya Rahane took the lead past 150.

Overall, the day went to KL Rahul heroics with the bat. There was a time when scoring century in a test match was a tough task especially against West Indies. But Indian Team is day by day getting successful in achieving this feat. His innings will definitely create a puzzled situation in the minds of selectors when Murali Vijay would be fit to play.

Now, Ajinkya Rahane, who is still at the crease with Wriddhiman Saha, would be hoping to score as much as on Day 3, so that they could be successful again in taking 20 wickets in a match which is Kohli’s trademark.
