In what may seem to be a blow to the Manchester United fans, reports have surfaced of La Liga side Villarreal wanting to strike a deal with the current Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo this summer. The deal is said to be somewhat like a loan transfer between Manchester United and Villarreal.
This can be attributed to the belief that Villarreal is wanting to strengthen its defense even more, especially before the Champions League returning to the Estadio El Madrigal later this year.
Although the Argentinian national player looked promising and was handpicked by Louis Van Gaal in 2014 for 16 million pounds from Sporting Lisbon, his run was not promising at all. His season saw him miss most of the time due to his shoulder injury, but he did return to play in the final matches and was instrumental in FA cup victory over Crystal palace. This definitely seems to be bad news for the player, and this seems to be a thing of sorts with Mourhino’s arrival at the Old Trafford.

Rojo was not a part of the recent Argentinian team that reached the final of the Copa America last month, and has three more years left on his contract with Man. Utd, who hope to recover as much as possible from the 16 million pounds fee they paid for Rojo. The current deal seems to be more like a try out session with Villarreal wanting to see whether he fits into the club’s pay structure.
This news comes as a huge sigh of relief for Rojo who has been on the sidelines with Man Utd, owing to his injuries and him not quite fitting into their plans, sparking off rumors about his impending move from the club. This would be Jose Mourhino’s first deal officiating after he joined Man Utd.
Will this be a win win situation? Will Rojo be able to help Villarreal strengthen their defense? This remains to be seen and time will only tell. This would make the Spanish club Villarreal fans jump with joy knowing that their defense just got even stronger.
