Rahane scored a brilliant hundred before rain halts Day 3 play

Sabina Park, Jamaica is doing everything to save their country from losing the 2nd test against Team India. It was not the first time in the series when play was stopped due to rain. Day 3 showed us the same scenario as rain had the best party out there in the middle.

Only 46.1 overs were possible on Day 3 which is not a good sign for the remaining two days. Rain as well as bad light completely washed out the third session which could be an important one for the teams especially India.

Ajinkya Rahane was the player of the day because of his tremendous century. His sensible innings of 108* in 237 balls was full of boundaries and big ones. Rahane scored 13 fours and 3 maximums. The partnership between him and Saha of 98 runs was the major break of the Day 3 as it helped the team to get past 400 with the big lead of 229 runs till the first session. Unfortunately, Saha got out before the lunch & was trapped in front by Jason Holder.

Rahane impressed everyone with a six when the right-hander was on 89 and then completed his hundred with a cheeky boundary off the spin between the keeper and the first slip. Here’s what the Mumbaikar said after the day’s play. “I was disappointed with the way I got out in the first Test. But, whether we play in India or abroad, what’s important for me is my process and preparations.

When I was on 84-85 I wanted to play normal cricket but the moment I saw the long off was brought in, I wanted to clear the fielder. When I was on 95, just play normal cricket and once I get my hundred we’ll play some shots.”

The only good thing about the hosts was the five wicket haul from Roston Chase. The WI spinner got Mishra and Shami out off consecutive deliveries. Now, Team India is in a well-settled position to grab the second test to their name. The only concerned part is the bad weather.
