An intercontinental championship match has been announced for this week’s episode of SmackDown Live. It was announced that the six-time Intercontinental Champion, the Miz will defend his title against the Lunatic Fringe, Dean Ambrose.
WWE Hall of Famer and current RAW General Manager, Mick Foley who has been ‘off’ since last week apparently needs to go in for hip replacement surgery and the bad side of it being his inability to have insurance to help pay for it. He noted on his social media account that he did have health insurance for the past 26 years and that due to a missed payment, he was out of the insurance coverage. He also asked his fans and well-wishers not to panic and urged them not to start a GoFundMe page for his surgery.
There had been a rumor going around over the past couple of days that WWE superstar had died in a road accident. The Associated Press recently released a statement debunking the rumors. Chris Bellitti, the spokesman for the WWE said that the Big Show is alive and well.
Curtis Axel recently showed up as ‘Axelmania’ at a recent live event from St. Louis. He also performed Hulk Hogan’s signature move, the leg drop. The gimmick was dropped after Hogan was in the middle of a leaked transcript showing an aggressive racist rant against Hogan’s daughter Brooke’s boyfriend back in 2005. However, with the Gawker incident being blown over, the belief is that Hogan is on the way back to the WWE.
There has been a new report doing the rounds that former WWE superstar Kurt Angle has been telling independent promoters that he will be returning to the WWE in April and would be back in time for WrestleMania 33. It’s worth mentioning that the Wrestling Observer noted that the news should be treated as a rumor as the relationship between Angle and the WWE has been up in the air for a long time.
There have been rumors of Sasha Banks possibly making the switch from RAW to SmackDown Live after a twitter user responded to a GIF of her carrying the RAW Women’s title with the caption reading: ‘soon lil boss Jr. will come home’. Sasha responded saying, that she hoped it would be blue.
On this week’s episode of TNA Impact Wrestling, there had been a segment involving Matt Hardy taking Jeff Hardy to the Dome of Deletion and announced that he had repaid his debt by helping Matt reclaim the TNA Tag Team Titles. Matt also ‘restored’ everything he had taken from Jeff. There have been rumors that this might be the end of the character ‘Brother Nero’ for Jeff Hardy and that he may be back with the Jeff Hardy gimmick.
WWE Hall of Famer and 16 time world champion, Ric Flair has been sworn in as an honorary deputy in Clayton County, Georgia.
The Undertaker and WWE Hall of Famer, Shawn Michaels have been confirmed for the January 9th episode of RAW.
Both Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman are being advertised for the January 16th episode of RAW coming in from the Verizon Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Goldberg is scheduled to make an appearance on this week’s RAW and it looks like the two superstars will cross paths only at the Royal Rumble. He is also being advertised to appear on the January 23rd episode of RAW from Cleveland, Ohio.
In a recent interview with TMZ, WWE Hall of Famer and former 5 time WCW champion, Booker T, spoke about rumors of Hulk Hogan working with the WWE again. Booker T spoke about his own troubled past and said that everyone deserves to have a second chance. He also noted that if Hogan did return to the WWE, he would give him his full support because Hogan gave Booker his full support when the two worked together in WCW.
It has been announced that Lilian Garcia would be singing the national anthem at the New Year’s Day NFL game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals in honor of her late father who recently passed away following a battle with cancer.
