Okay let me the first to admit it, I agree there has been an overdose of Goldberg and Brock Lesnar’s match at Survivor Series and the following follow-ups. But, I cannot help it, WWE currently is planning to book two of the biggest stars in all of professional wrestling in a rematch, making it a third time the two colossal beasts lock horns.
Last week it was announced that Goldberg would be the number one entrant for the Royal Rumble. The update was closely followed up by news that Brock Lesnar would also be participating at the event. In a storyline sense, it appears that Lesnar will be coming back for blood and revenge and will come back harder and stronger than ever.
WWE.com observed that Lesnar would be participating in the Royal Rumble match. Before that, the Beast is scheduled to make an untelevised appearance for a WWE tour in Mexico City. He is scheduled to take on Rusev, in what is expected to be a very short squash match to show that Lesnar ‘is ready’ to take on Goldberg.
As of this writing, it appears the current plan is to have neither Brock Lesnar nor Bill Goldberg win the match, but have Lesnar cost Goldberg the match. This would obviously tick Goldberg off and force him into agreeing to a third match at WrestleMania 33.This was exactly the same way the WWE had booked the match between the two at WrestleMania XX. The booking was very lazy and the fans turned on the match, with the fans losing interest given that both the superstars were heading to pursue their own professional goals.
On RAW this week, Goldberg was cheered on by the fans and considering that the Canadian fans are ‘smarks’ about professional wrestling. However, it is worth mentioning that the crowd even cheered for Canada’s own, Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens too. So, it does not mean that Goldberg might be a face heading into the match, given Lesnar’s semi-face booking off late.
