This past week’s RAW had one of the best matches to conclude the show, where Sasha Banks beat Charlotte for the straight third time in the main event on RAW to be the three time WWE RAW Women’s Champion.
Interestingly, the event took place from Charlotte, North Carolina, which happens to be the home of ‘the Nature Boy’ Ric Flair and his daughter, Charlotte. Before the show we noted that Flair was present backstage and that we could expect him to make an appearance in some form on the show.
During Sasha’s interview prior to the match, she claimed that she would win the match and claimed to dedicate her win to Ric Flair. After her victory, Ric Flair made his way out to the ring to congratulate Sasha on her hard fought win. 411 mania reported that WWE signed Ric Flair to a new deal just a few hours before Monday Night RAW aired.
As of now, there is no word on what role Ric Flair will take up with the WWE, given his ‘on-screen’ fallout with Charlotte. After Charlotte removed Flair as her manager, she started being accompanied by Dana Brooke and the two have been going strong thus far.
With Flair bow being signed to be a regular member of the RAW roster, as a casual old school fan, I cannot help but compare the days of Sting, where Ric Flair and Sting teamed up and Flair would always end up betraying Sting.
It is possible that Flair would have a similar role with Sasha currently, given that blood is eventually thicker than water.
With rumors of Rhonda Rousey being signed to the WWE after her stint with UFC coming to an end, it appears that the WWE would want to have a Women’s championship between Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Bayley and Rousey at WrestleMania 33.
Having Flair back could possibly spice things up. As of this writing, we can only confirm that Ric Flair has indeed signed a contract but no details have been revealed about the contract.
