WWE RAW Results – 08/16/2016

This week’s episode of WWE Monday night raw is live from the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX. This would be the go home edition for RAW before Summerslam.

We open up with a video package of Seth Rollins in the arena, from earlier today. He’s calling out the demon king, Finn Balor. Rollins says, Balor is scared of him and that he would track him down tonight.

Rusev opens the show tonight, where he says he’s taking over the show till Roman Reigns comes out. Mick Foley and Stephanie are out trying to appease him. They’re interrupted by ‘the guy’, Roman Reigns, who says that he will get it on with Rusev tonight, but is stopped midway by Stephanie, who says she is not going to book a match between the two until Summerslam. Mick Foley intervenes and says tonight we are going to have a non-title match between both competitors and Rusev gets the opportunity to defend Lana’s honor.

Sami Zayn vs Sheamus: A shift from the regular Sheamus and Cesaro matches. As expected, Cesaro is out for commentary. Sheamus is on the offence and gains control over the initial moments of the match. Zayn tries to go on the offence, but is stopped by Sheamus, who hits the white noise. The first near fall of the match. Sheamus gets ready to deliver the big boot, but is distracted by Cesaro. Capitalizing on the distraction, Zayn connects with a big boot for the win.

Backstage, Owens is cutting a promo against Enzo and Cass along with Jericho. Owens says he will soften up Cass by beating him tonight for Summerslam.

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods vs Dudley boys: D-von starts things off against Xavier, who quickly tags in Bubba. After a while, Kofi and D-von get the tags. Kofi connects with the trouble in paradise on D-Von for the win.

Post the match, Anderson and Gallows appear on screen, saying that they will make both Xavier and Kofu suffer the same fate as Big E. The New Day says they will retain the titles at Summerslam.

Backstage, Rollins is still looking for the demon Finn Balor. He comes across Neville who says that Rollins is not yet ready to face Balor.

Another short squash match for Nia Jax against Rachel Levy.

Paul Heyman prepares for Brock Lesnar who says that Lesnar has a message for the WWE universe. Even before Heyman can start, we are interrupted by Heath Slater, who says that he is the hottest free agent today and it seems as if Heyman wants to represent him. Slater says he wants to beat Brock Lesnar tonight so that he can have a contract with RAW. Lesnar is about to speak! He says he does not care for Heath’s kids and whether he has to fend for them. He says Slater either walk away or get beaten up. Slater goes for the offence on Lesnar, but Lesnar hits with German Suplexes. Lesnar hits the F5 on Slater and rolls him out of the ring. Heyman cuts a promo and promotes the match against Randy Orton at Summerslam.

Big Cass vs Kevin Owens: Owens gets the upper hand in the initial moments of the matches, but Cass connects with two splashes in the corner. Cass goes for the boot, but Owens avoids and throws Cass on the outside. Owens tries to hit the power bomb, but is countered by a back body drop from Cass. Jericho meanwhile takes out Enzo on the outside and attacks Cass from behind. This leads to a DQ and Jericho and Owens beat down Cass and Enzo.

The prime time players’ vs the Shining Stars: Looks like Young and Titus are back as a team. Bob Backlund is at ring side. Young bumps Titus by mistake and causes Titus to hit the clash of the Titus on Young. Titus leaves the match and Primo pins Young.

vs Jinder Mahal: Mahal is taken to the outside by Neville and comes back with a corkscrew moonsault. In the ring, Mahal hits a big boot for a near fall. Neville connects with a kick to the head and connects with the Red Arrow for the win.
