This week’s RAW comes in from Anaheim, California live from the Honda Center. To continue their storyline from last week, Enzo and Cass are out, talking about how Chris Jericho is always meddling in their business.
Enzo says that Sasha was almost smitten by him last week if it weren’t for Jericho. They call out Jericho, who comes out with his backup, Kevin Owens. Jericho calls Enzo a stupid idiot and we have a match between the two.
Match 1: Chris Jericho vs Enzo Amore: Jericho is control, till Enzo throws him to the outside. Enzo tries to attack, but Owens drags Jericho out of harm’s way. Cass gets into Owens’ face. Back in the ring, Jericho is shown gaining offence, till Enzo hits a tornado DDT out of nowhere. He hits with a few rights and connects with a cross body. He hits a face buster and running forearm, goes for the quick pin, but gets a near fall. Jericho rolls to the outside, but Enzo hits a suicide dive. Owen distracts Enzo allowing Jericho to hit the code breaker. Cass has seen enough and hits the big boot on Jericho in front of the referee, who calls for the bell. The winner by DQ, Chris Jericho.
After the match, Cass challenges Jericho and Owens to a tag team match at Summerslam and they accept!!
Thoughts: This is turning out to be a great feud! Jericho and Owens form a great team, and they call themselves the ‘Canadian brothers’. It’d be interesting to see how they come up with the match, given Enzo and Cass are hot on the roster currently, and so is Owens. Jericho as usual, carries the young rookies like only he can.
As announced previously, P.Diddy is on RAW. He’s talking backstage to Foley and he gives him concert tickets. New Day come in, and P.Diddy asks how Big E’s nuts are. This forces Kofi and Xavier to begin a rap. Hilarious stuff! New Day are really entertaining, even without Big E!!
As a follow up to last week, Titus vs Darren Young is up next.
Darren slaps Titus immediately after the bell rings. This leads to an all-out brawl. Back in the ring, Titus is in control. Young counters Titus attempt to go for a running power slam and quickly rolls up Titus for the win!!
Foley is talking to Stephanie over the phone, and is approached by the Women’s Champion, the Boss, Sasha Banks. She wants a match against Dana Brooke. If she wins, Dana is banned from ring side for her match against Charlotte at Summerslam! If she loses, Dana is allowed at ring side in Charlotte’s corner.
A match against a local wrestler for Brawn Strowman. Strowman hits a running clothesline and quickly hits the reverse choke slam for the win. Just another squash match for Strowman. Just the way they did for Ryback during his initial days.
Seth Rollins is out and he cuts a promo on Finn Balor. He says that Finn Balor is not even his true name. He says he’s going to beat him at Summerslam. This man so reminds us of the HHH back in the Evolution days! Excellent heel promo as usual!
Cesaro vs Sheamus: Back and forth action to begin with. Sheamus hits with a rolling Senton. Sheamus connects with a shoulder tackle off the top for a near fall. Cesaro retaliates with a cross body for the near fall. Sheamus tries to hit the White Noise, but Cesaro avoids. Cesaro goes for the neutralizer, but gets an Irish back breaker instead. Another near fall for Sheamus. European uppercuts by Cesaro, and a bump into the referee allows Cesaro to roll up Sheamus for the win.
Thoughts: Not really sure where WWE is going with Cesaro. If this is to push him in the mid card, well then they’re spot on. But, it’s time. He’s main event caliber. He should be pitted against better opponents. Nothing against Sheamus, but we have already seen their matches a zillion times. Sheamus is getting stale now.
A video package highlighting the current feud between Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton is shown.
