Addressing Goldberg’s rumors of returning to the WWE

0

First of all, this is what we feel and has no official confirmation from either WWE or Bill Goldberg himself. We are basing our opinions on previous occurrences.

For starters, Bill Goldberg made a comeback of sorts with his return to the WWE 2K17 video game. This was the way The Rock, The Ultimate Warrior and Sting made their return to the company. The Ultimate Warrior and Sting had been at loggerheads for the longest time before they eventually came to the WWE. For Sting, that was something completely unexpected, with him being the lone warhorse for WCW for the longest time.

So, what does this mean for Bill Goldberg? The deal that he signed was with 2KSports and does not involve the WWE directly. However, this deal can be used to mend the relationships between Bill Goldberg and WWE. It was reported earlier this June that Bill was in the early stages of having talks with WWE for a comeback. Few websites went to state that Goldberg would be headlining WrestleMania 33 against Brock Lesnar. However, Bill refuted the claims.

There was talk of Goldberg coming back for the draft extension, and it turned out to be true. It’s not the WWE did not approach Goldberg for a comeback. He stated on twitter a few months back that the deal was not good enough and they kept talking about the pop he would get and the fans loving it, but were not willing to budge on the monetary aspect. So, from the looks of it, it does not seem likely to see Bill back in the squared circle, at least till WrestleMania next year.

However, that might not be a very good idea on the part of the WWE, given that this is the dawning of a new era of superstars in the WWE and that they’re looking to build new stars. Going back to Bill does not make sense, since he would not return for a loss. Besides, they have great part timers in the Rock, Brock Lesnar and Undertaker. They can do without him, especially with him being on the other side of his age.
