Following some average performances in the recent games, there are strong rumours floating around that United first choice goalie David De Gea will most probably give way to the Argentine Sergio Romero.
Failing to gain the boss’s faith and not starting any premier league game this season, this might be a golden chance for Romero to prove his worth.
Although he is considered one of the best keepers in the premier league, but he is facing tough competition from his counterparts Petr Cech, Thibaut Courtois and others. Talking about the recent home draw against Burnley, his performance was clearly overshadowed by United Oldboy Tom Heaton who pulled off some stunning saves one after the other denying United a goal and 3 points at home.
Resting key players is not the forte of Jose Mourinho, but now that United are not playing great football consistently, he seriously needs to ponder upon it. Same was the case with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who started his English league career with a bang but then fell into a drought zone for quite a time. It was that time when the United boss had to think of resting him and starting Rashford in his place.
The current standings reveal that the Chelsea keeper Courtois tops the list for the most clean sheets till date , which keeps De Gea still trailing at the third positions along with Petr Cech. Making some key saves early in the league and also showing his skills in the matches following, Jose Mourinho feels that some rest might benefit the Spanish ace and help him regain his zenith.
All this clearly proves that English Premier League is not one which is dominated by a couple of giants as is the case with some of the other leagues in Europe. Here each week the league discovers a new hero, showing that it is talent that counts and not big names.
