Juventus completed the biggest deal of this summer by signing the Argentine Star Striker Gonzalo Higuain for a humongous sum of ₤74.3 million making him the third most expensive player in the football history after Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Italian champions met the buyout clause of former Real Madrid striker. The 28-year-old has signed 5 years deal with Juventus after agreeing on all the personal terms. The fee makes him the highest ever domestic transfer surpassing Fernando Toress. Higuain was a lso linked with some other clubs like Arsenal and Spanish Juggernauts Atletico Madrid.
A desperation signing
Though some or can say Juventus fans would completely disagree with the fact that he is desperation signing but that looks certainly the case in the current context. Juventus are not at all big spenders, in fact they have never ever crossed the ₤ 40 million limits and now they are slashing money on the Argentine.
The answer to that solely lies in the Paul Pogba’s move. It has become certain that Paul Pogba is poised to move back to his home Manchester United and that’s why Juventus wanted a signing that can fill the void and they recognized Higuain as a potential candidate to do so. Though they both play in completely different position but the star power higuain brings in the team can surely fill in the aura of Pogba. The 36 goals that he scored last season is a clear testament of the talents he posses.
Where he would fit
There is absolutely no doubt about Gonzalo Higuain position in the team. He is an out-and-out striker but Juventus have Pablo Dybala too who is also a proven entity in Serie A and an advantage Dybala has is that he has many years in front of him unlike Higuain who is 28-year-old. The Juventus boss will definitely choose Higuain as his main strike force and will be hoping that Pablo Dybala also grows by playing along with Higuain.
Arsenal misses once again
The striker woes for North London club Arsenal continue as they failed to sign yet another striker. They have been linked with two or three strikers this summer but have not been able to sign a single striker this season.
