Total 8 teams are participating in the HWL 2017 Final in Odisha. The eight teams are divided into two groups each with four teams – Group A have : Argentina, Netherlands, Belgium and Spain & Group B have India, Australia, England and Germany. Top two teams from each group will progress to the semis of the Hockey World League 2017 Bhubaneswar.
Kookaburras team are unbeaten in all matches played against India in Hockey World League till now and men in blue will try to change that record. Also, Australian team are the current trophy holders of the world cup, Champions Trophy, Oceania Cup, HWL as well as the Commonwealth Games.
On the other hand, India will play this tournament under new coach Sjoerd Marijne who replaced Roelant Oltmans 2 months back. Indian midfielder Sardar Singh was not picked for this tournament.
