The Indian Team started the West Indies Tour on a high as they defeated the inexperienced West Indies Side by a margin of an Inning and 92 runs. The West Indies batting Order surrendered against the brilliant and composed bowling by the Indian Bowlers who perfectly complemented the Batting by the Indian team.
West Indies never really looked in the match and suffered consequences of selecting a majority of all rounders rather than selecting some specialists. It was the Biggest ever victory by the Indian team outside the Subcontinent.
The match as it happened
Indian won the toss and opted to bat first and that decision definitely paid off for the Indian team as they Posted a humongous total of 566, thanks to the courtesy of the brilliant Kohli double ton which was perfectly matched by the third century of Ravichandran Ashiwn. West Indies came to bat and they were troubled by the Pace duo of Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami both of them picked four wickets each and wrapped up the inning under 250 that resulted in follow-on for West Indies.

The second inning was even a poor reflection of batting then the first one as R Ashiwn single handedly dealt with the West Indies batting line up leading the Indian team to the victory.
Man of the Match – Ravichandran Ashiwn
It was a brilliant performance by the Indian Spin ace as he was brilliant in both the departments as he registered a century in the first inning of India and picked up seven wickets in the second inning of West Indies. Ashiwn was majorly criticized for his overseas performance but this was a completely different match for the Indian Star.
West Indies Batsman struggles on Shorter Deliveries
There was a time when everybody used to fear the West Indian bowler for their fierce bowling but in the first test match it was the West Indies Batsman who feared the Indian bowling specially the duo of Umesh Yadav and Shami as they fully capitalized on the weakness of West Indies batting line up in playing the shorter Deliveries.
