Although Punk’s debut ended faster than he could have ever imagined, he managed to earn the respect of everyone. He made a vow to come back stronger than ever after he submitted to Mickey Gall in less than 3 minutes. It appears that Punk has set his sights on a return to the octagon early next year.
In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour Today, he revealed that he hoped that he would get another shot at UFC. He said that the decision was up to Dana White and has had good conversations with him. He added that he made it clear to Dana that if he wanted to cut him out, he is fine with it, but he plans to continue fighting, whether it was for Dana or anybody else.
He also went on to add that he does not have a manager nor does he have an agent. He joked saying that he is more like Bill Muray, with a lot lesser money and not quite as famous or funny as him. He added that he made it clear to Dana that he wants to fight again. He added that it is back to the drawing board again for him.
Apparently Dana floated an idea to Punk and they are still in the discussion stages and they have been going back and forth about it. Punk made it a point to add that he is at a point in his life where he wants something on paper. He signed off by saying that we may get to hear an announcement from the brand in the coming few weeks and that there was no specific timetable for it and that he was pretty confident that his next fight was going to be for the UFC.
Punk recently responded to a twitter user sarcastically when asked about a possible WrestleMania 33 return. He made it a very sarcastic retort and replied in typical fashion that he would not be returning to the WWE.
We wish Punk nothing but the best and hope he has his next fight with the UFC soon!
