Report: WWE interested in bringing back Bubba Ray Dudley and Kurt Angle for the Royal Rumble

Ever since the WWE draft pick, due to lack of ‘big stars’ and WWE being in the process of building newer ones, the ratings have been on a down slide. The only time the ratings surged was when guys like Goldberg returned. This piece of news comes as good news to fans of the Attitude Era. It appears that the WWE is serious on bringing back Kurt Angle and Bubba Ray back for the Royal Rumble.

Royal Rumble has always been the night of surprises and the most unpredictable night of the year. With the WWE returning to San Antonio after 20 years and WWE planning to make this year’s Royal Rumble the biggest event ever, it is understandable that the WWE wants to bring their former stars back. Kurt Angle has been vocal about wanting to return to his Alma matter, and work on a limited schedule or a legends deal. Bubba Ray on the other hand was with the WWE along with D-Von for almost a year before parting ways amicably with the WWE, not leaving the door closed for a potential return.

Another name thrown in for a potential return is San Antonio’s own, the Heart Break Kid, Shawn Michaels. The rumors started making rounds after the current WWE World Champion, AJ Styles expressed interest in working a match against the ‘show stopper’. Time and again, Shawn has went public about not wanting to come out of his retirement, as a sign of respect for the promise made to the Undertaker and we may not see him compete at the Royal Rumble or in any capacity. However, since it is his hometown, we can expect him to make an appearance or cut a promo, similar to the ones with CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins in the past.

It’s way too early to discuss about the Rumble, but now is the time the wheels are in motion for the event, and with such great rumors coming in, we cannot help but be excited.
