Tour de France 2016 Preview

Tour de France 2016 will be 103th edition that will be running from July 2nd 2016 Saturday to Sunday July 24th 2016 in France. This year Tour de France will be made up of 21 stages, including distance between Mont Saint-Michel and Paris along with a stage up the legendary climbing of Mont Ventoux & will cover a total distance of 3,519 kms.

The live coverage of Tour de France 2016 of all 21 stages will be telecast on Eurosport 1.

2016 Tour de France Stages

  • Nine flat stages
  • One hilly stage
  • Nine mountain-stages including four summit finishes of Andorre Arcalis, Mont Ventoux, Finhaut-Emosson et and Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc
  • Two individual time trial stages
  • And two rest days.

Stage 1 – Saturday July 2nd, Mont Saint Michel to Utah Beach to Sainte Marie du Mont : 188 km.

Stage 2 – Sunday July 3rd, Saint Lô to Cherbourg-Octeville : 182 km.

Stage 3 – Monday July 4th, Grandville to Angers : 222 km.

Stage 4 – Tuesday July 5th, Saumur to Limoges : 232 km.

Stage 5 – Wednesday July 6th, Limoges to Le Lioran : 216 km.

Stage 6 – Thursday July 7th, Arpajon-sur-Cère to Montauban : 187 km.

Stage 7 – Friday July 8th, L’Isle-Jourdain to Lac de Payolle : 162 km.

Stage 8 – Saturday July 9th, Pau to Bagnères-de-Luchon : 183 km.

Stage 9 – Sunday July 10th, Val d’Aran (Spain) to Vielha to Arcalis (Andorra) : 184 km.

Stage 10 – Tuesday July 12th, Andorra to Revel : 198 km.
Stage 11 – Wednesday July 13, Carcassonne to Montpelier : 164 km.
Stage 12 – Thursday July 14th, Montpellier to Mont Ventoux : 185 km.
Stage 13 – Friday July 15th, Bourg Saint Andéol to La Caverne du Pont d’Arc : 37 km.
Stage 14 Saturday July 16th, Montélimar to Villars-les-Dombes : 208 km.
Stage 15 – Sunday July 17th, Bourg-en-Bresse to Culoz : 159 km.

Stage 16 – Monday July 18th, Moirans-en-Montagne to Bern (Switzerland) : 206 km.

Stage 17 – Wednesday July 20th, Bern to Finhaut-Emosson (Switzerland) : 184 km.

Stage 18 – Thursday July 21st, Sallanches to Megève : 17 km.

Stage 19 – Friday July 22nd, Albertville to Saint-Gervais-Mont Blanc : 146 km.

Stage 20 – Saturday July 23th, Megève to Morzine : 146 km.

Stage 21 – Sunday July 24th, Chantilly to Paris Champs-Élysées : 113 km.

The bonuses will be of 10, 6 & 4 seconds for the first three of each stage.

The green jersey in Tour de France will be given / rewarded to the leader of the points-classification. The race will venture out of France on 3 separate occasions in year 2016. The Yellow jersey will worn by the leader of the general classification. The polka-dot jersey will be worn by the leader of best climbers classification. The white jersey will be worn by the best young rider.
