The USA Basketball team showcased their Gold medal credentials after defeating the Chinese team in a one-sided affair. It was a litmus test for the USA basketball team and they passed the test in style by winning the match by 107-57. The win extends the unbeaten record of 3 matches before Olympics for the USA team.
It was a slight improvement from last time around when both teams went head to head. China never looked like in the game with USA dominating in almost every department. The Chinese team apart from two or three players looked like an ordinary team against the star-studded gold medal contenders.
The match as it happened
It was DeMarcus Cousins who led the team from front by scoring 21 points. He was supported by Durant and Anthony and the USA team was completely dominant with almost 50 percent shooting, majority of which were the 3 pointers. The American team gathered an astonishing 21 points from the rebound too and the defense also stayed firm restricting the ordinary Chinese side with almost half points compared to the Americans.
The team is missing the big names
Though it was a good win for the USA team but the Chinese team still stood up brilliantly against the USA team. The names on the Chinese roster were unknown but they were still able to score 57 points. The major reason behind this is the star players that the American team is missing. The likes of LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook are missed badly by the team.
Kevin Durant to be the Star at Olympics once again
Kevin Durant was the name that rose to the Occasion in London when he performed brilliantly to out shadow even the greats in his team. He was a star and undoubtedly the best Basketball player in the London Olympics. Four years after the lad has gained more experience and with the USA team missing some household names, he could be the one that can take USA team closer to the golden glory. He clearly showcased that he is all set to be the main man with his 13 point game.
