This is the WWE’s first pay per view since the recent roster draft being held at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. How well did WWE build up the event? What is the fate of the titles? What storylines can we look forward to heading into Summerslam? We have the results and discussions here!
Battleground Kickoff show : Tyler Breeze and Fandango (Breezango) vs the Usos: Talk about starting off things in an unpredictable fashion. Contrary to expectations, Breezango def. the Usos with a roll up by Breeze on Jey for the 1.2.3.
Sasha banks & mystery partner vs Charlotte & Dana Brooke: The first match of the night. Sasha Banks out to a decent pop and reveals her mystery tag team partner. Hold your hats.. it’s Bayley!! She finally makes her main roster debut and the crowd erupts! Pretty decent match with Charlotte and the Boss going at it for most of the match. Sasha hits the backstabber and the Banks Statement on Charlotte picking up the win for her team.
The Wyatt family vs New day : This seems to be an interesting match situation, given that the Wyatt family was broken thanks to the draft. New Day still banking on their reign as the longest reigning tag team. New Day cut a promo about how the draft broke up the Wyatt Family and how this could be their last encounter. Talk about putting an offensive match up! The eater of the worlds went all out, hitting Xavier Woods with the Sister Abigale for the pin and win for his team.
Rusev vs. Zack Ryder for the U.S. Title : The long island superstar starts off with attacks on Rusev. Ryder had the upper hand for most of the match, when Rusev suddenly put in the accolade, for the win successfully defending his title. After the match, Rusev continues his offence on Ryder, out of nowhere Mojo Rawley hits the ring for the save. Rusev retreats.
