Shinsuke Nakamura recently successfully defended his title against Samoa Joe in a steel cage match from Melbourne, Australia completely eliminating Joe from the title picture for the foreseeable future.
With rumblings of Joe’s main roster debut, we might see Joe move from the land of NXT to the land of the big sharks, the main event roster. This leaves a big question, who would be the new number one contender for the NXT Title?
We had qualifying matches last week to decide the competitors for the fatal four way match this week. As witnessed last week, Bobby Rhoode, Roderick Strong, Andrade Almas and Tye Dillinger have advanced in their respective qualifying matches and will all be competing in tonight’s match to determine the new number one contender for the NXT title. Although Rhoode has been glorious in almost all of the stuff he does, he never really won the big one.
Will tonight be his night? Will he finally win a chance to face off against Nakamura for the NXT Title?
Also previewed for tonight is the showdown between Daria Berenato and Billie Kay. As noted on the previous episodes, it is safe to say that Daria Berenato is not happy with Billie Kay and Peyton Royce after the mean spirited Australians turned their backs on her during a six woman tag match recently.
The former MMA grappler would be seething and for sure cannot wait to get an opportunity to lay her hands on the two women. As noted last week, she claimed that she was out to hurt both of them and it seems she might get the opportunity this week. She is expected to collide with Kay in what is being billed as a heated fight.
Obviously, this would mean that Peyton would be accompanying her partner and be at ringside for the match. Things do boil out of control and good old fashioned brawls are common in matches and environments like these.
Make sure you tune into this week’s NXT to find out!
